I can confirm this error with a Lenovo T61 and ubuntu 9.10 (32b) (latest update) (the same as 9.04 and 8.10) It happens after a while when my notebook is running on battery. After plugging power back in, the card won't work anymore, unless a reboot. also the hardware switch for wireles and bleutooth gives no solution.
