I also have all those files, yet the setting gets saved. I'm running
Feisty, but I have experienced this problem before on Edgy. Possibly
it's been fixed. Can you try upgrading to kde 3.5.6 without deleting
the configuration files and see if it fixes the problem?
I think this is a duplicate of bug 44777. If updating KDE doesn't help,
though you did a clean install, could you try to remove the
configuration files from .kde anyways and see if it works?
