More testing showed that the host (www.thsolar.com) does not work properly from
any OS.
Test from several versions of Ubuntu and Windows with several client progrmas
did not return a valid response, only a curl request from Ubuntu 8.04 gave ab
empty response.
Telneting port 80 was possible but did not return any response. It triggered
some kind of block. After the first request not further conenction attempts
were successful.
The host could be fingerprinted as a BSD variant. A firewall is filtering
traffic.
That all leeds to one conclusion:
The host is faulty and the problem is not an Ubuntu and / or Linux software
error.
The reporter is advised to contact the company running the server and work out
an solution with them.
