The proposed version does not work for me.
$ apt-cache policy update-manager
update-manager:
Installiert: 1:0.111.10
Kandidat: 1:0.111.10
Versions-Tabelle:
*** 1:0.111.10 0
400 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-proposed/main Packages
...
A click on "check" should get a fresh version of /var/lib/update-manager
/meta-release. This fails silently. There is no such file in /var/lib
/update-manager/meta-release afterwards
