I got the same problem. Fortunately, I've had a little more experience with Debian (and hence, the underlying Ubuntu subsystem).
Dropping to a console, repeated rounds of: apt-get dist-upgrade apt-get install -f finally get you through. It really seems that the upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10, like a few other aspects of Karmic, was not tested. It's a sad day when a Debian-based distro should rather be installed from scratch than upgraded. I've taken Debian and Ubuntu systems through 4+ upgrade cycles before -- hasn't been this rocky. Release should have been delayed rather than unleashing an unfinished product. -- package libc6 2.10.1-0ubuntu15 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
