Digikam 1.0.0-beta6 is not yet released. Since this bug is rather serious (it has 25 duplicates in the KDE bug tracker) maybe one should ask the Digikam developers when they plan to release the next beta. If that is going to be a while, backporting the fix (if the appropriate commit can be identified) or even packaging an svn version would hopefully be an improvement over the currently packaged (beta5) version.
