1) Press ESC: You can select the kernel you want to boot (the one with the splash)
e.g. Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-11-generic 2) Selected? Now you press "e". 3) Then as Scott explained You'll see a new screen with a series of lines; the second one of which is the kernel filename and command-line. Press the down arrow to highlight this, and press "e" again to edit the command-line. The last two words are "quiet splash", press backspace until "splash" has been deleted. 4) Press ENTER to accept the new command-line, then "b" to boot with it. Please tell us if booting was OK.
