Thanks for yr clear instructions... its really appreciated otherwise id
be lost.

I have tried what you suggested and nothing has changed (no sound at all
on anything) and i had tried that yesterday too just out of
desperation! :-) Note the command just comes up as follows:

tegg1...@wesley:~$ sudo update-grub
[sudo] password for tegg1234: 
sudo: update-grub: command not found
tegg1...@wesley:~$
