@Matthias Mainzer: you wrote, that the old APN made problems. I had some connection problems with my Huwei E180. Clearly said, the event "NetworkManager: <info> PPP manager(IP Config Get) reply received." sometimes did not happen. So the IP-setting were wrong (no Internet). Does this issue have something to do with the old APN?
