Also, I think you're being affected by bug 455544 which occurs when the
bandwidth preferences are set to the defaults. If you delete
~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf and restart the Ubuntu One client in
addition to starting syncdaemon with a different locale (as detailed in
the previous comment) you should be able to connect. Thank you, Joshua
