Well, after installing Jaunty and Intrepid and trying TVTime on these versions, I can only come to the conclusion that either Karmic breaks TVTime or TVTime breaks Karmic. In any event, it works in the 2 previous Ubuntu versions on this computer. So something has drastically changed to cause this mess.
