Depends where the sound distortion appears. If it's for multichannel non-stereo, e.g., 5.1, then try PULSE_NO_SIMD=1. If it's for ALSA apps that are being routed through PA via the pcm plugin, that's a known bug. There are also hardware bugs that *might* be able to be worked around in linux, etc.
