No. "Which kernel version are you running on Jaunty that doesn't have these lockups?" I'm currently running Ubuntu Jaunty w/2.6.28-16 with no problems. "I hope we're experiencing the same bug and an expert can chime in to help us." Clearly it's not exactly the same bug, but similar. If you read through that Karmic dev thread I posted you'll see many variations. My point is that we have a huge problem with hard lockups that began sometime around Karmic (testing) and it needs to be solved! Your thread seemed like a good place to start since these hard lockups do not produce an automated bug sequence. I'm over being lazy about it! I'm going to PM folks that replied to my original thread in Karmic testing and see if they have some input. I started with Gutsy and I've never seen Ubuntu so unusable as I have with Karmic and I think the devs do want to know.
