I've just confirmed the experimental kernel for i686 to work with my USB
N11; or at least to recognize it properly:
iwconfig | grep wlan1 -A5 yields (as expected for a working set up on a
laptop with built-in wifi):
wlan1 RTxx70 Wireless ESSID:"" Nickname:""
Mode:Auto Frequency=2.412 GHz
Link Quality=10/100 Signal level:0 dBm Noise level:-143 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
I've not yet attempted to configure the device for connection with my
local wireless network; mainly because the experimental kernel does not
boot to an X environment for me (and WPA2-PSK environments are not my
idea of commandline fun); I suspect the fact it enables KMS by default.
I guess the best bet is to try nomodeset to get around this issue for
more thorough testing.
