I also have an HP v6000 i happily installed ubuntu 9.10 Karmic on my laptop and it fried my card as well. Problem doesnt seem to be solved clear back from Hardy. I bought a new wireless card OEM replacement. SAME THING HAPPENED. When starting the computer up i can hear crackling through the speakers like its not running right.
