When the Rhytmnbox is buffering for the radio stations to begin, you can
hear the stuttering sound as if a wire to a speaker in not connecting
and needs attention. We both know this is not the problem, but this is
the way it sounds. Since you are serious about helping me get the sound
to work, I will not delete the distro, but it has some serious issues
that need to be addressed. Can you help me get the VMWare Tools
installed? This way I can cut and paste between my main computer,
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit series, to Ubuntu 64 bit series. The
information from the forum is not working for me at all.

Mel

P.S. I will try installing linux-backports-modules-alsa.

Subject: [Bug 483382] Re: The audio in my Ubuntu 9.10 doesn't work for anything
on this computer. I am within VMWare Workstation 6.5 - What can be done to
solve this problem?

Could you please try installing the 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-
karmic-generic' package and reboot? Note that you may need to unmute
various devices afterwards.

Also, just for clarification, you said: "I can hear sounds as if it wants to
begin working, but it will not work"
Are you saying that the sound stutters, or is the sound very quiet? Could you
please explain a little further?
