James, can you elaborate a little more. How exactly would I disable it?
What information are you using to make these statements? According to
the apt-get manager it is part of the core system ....

It was installed automatically (I assume) during the upgrade to 9.1. I
have no preference to tell you the truth, I just want the startup
scripts to work again.
