I confirm this issue. I saw it since mid-December and again with Lucid Live CD of January 6 2010.
I have a HP Compaq nx8220 with the very same network hardware: Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05) I stopped NetworkManager and started it manually with --no-daemon.
