The problem of mounting the 80 Gig IDE HDD or external 120 Gig USB HDD does not exist now and since I resized the Casper file, using a utility from the Pendrive Linux site. The background of the set up is, Eeebuntu 9.04 is being booted from a 4 Gig USB drive onto an old PC, using the floppy drive option to boot from a USB. The history is that originally there was no problem mounting the HDD but occurred maybe after 50 uses. The suposition is that there is a setting in the Casper file, that became corrupt for the mount points sda and sdc.
