Thanks Sebastien, However I had to get my system up so I backed up my files to usb and installed Hardy.
Never had a problem with XP, Jaunty, or Hardy. I'm pretty sure the bug is related to Karmic and not hardware since I have been using Evolution in Hardy for a long time with no crashes. When I first installed Karmic, I experienced seg faults with Synaptics (when i tried to search), Empathy (rarely but random crash), and Evolution would always crash at random 2 to 20 minute intervals.
