I don't know whether laptop_mode is something that is still relevant in
recent versions of Ubuntu but I certainly think that it is something
that regular users won't get involved with and there hasn't been any
interest in taking this forward recently so I'm closing the bug was
Won't Fix. Thanks to all for the input.
