Alex, Sorry about the late reply. My test machine is gone, so I can not reproduce the issue.I did get to install the netbook version and everything came up just fine.

Could you please provide the requested information? Thanks! -- GNOME does not start up after fresh install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497126 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop and Server. Fresh installation on Dell laptop Inspiron 5150. Initially installed ubuntu 9.10 from windows. Worked fine. after running an update ubuntu stopped working (windows was still working fine). I launched a fresh desktop install from cd overwriting the whole hard drive. I can log in but GNOME does not come up. I repeated the install (from scratch) a couple of times, with the exact same results. I get to log in, and receive no error messages. GNOME simply does not come up. I repeated the process with Ubuntu 9.10 Server, but get the same results. Both the Desktop edition and the Server were downloaded from www.ubuntu.com today (December 15, 2009). Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
