I have a similar problem with Totem - the playback of x264-encoded videos can randomly jump forward or backward. During 40-50 minutes playback, I usually experience 1-3 random jumps (most below 1 minute forward or backward). It doesn't seem to be deterministic or easily replicable - if I rewind after a forward jump, it usually plays fine. Totem doesn't write anything out to the console during those jumps. VLC playback of the same videos is fine. I use the latest Karmic packages.
