Sorry, but did you read my description of the bug? I'm trying to boot the 9.10 LiveCD. As I stated I can't get to ANY visible display nor can I get to a terminal console. How am I to type ANYTHING?
Fortunately, I found a solution to the problem after doing repeated searches on the Internet. I was correct, the laptop is booting (as I said, I could hear the start up tune) and the problem is with the X display. The solution is to add "nomodeset" to the boot command before booting the linux kernel. The problem concerns the Intel chipset in the laptop. There is somethink screwed up in the new kernel that causes a problem with the Intel graphics chipset. Here is the link that solved the problem: http://maketecheasier.com/solving-ubuntu-karmic-black-screen- issue/2009/12/29/comment-page-1#comment-14020 Forgive me for complaining, but there was enough information in my original post to at least post a work around. All I needed was the "nomodeset" kernel parameter. -- No screen display when trying to boot 9.10 LiveCD on Dell Inspiron 1545 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/506786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
