** Description changed:

- acpi/soundevents? is bad in Ubuntu on this box, with all upgrades in
- place, crashing Gnome. So I tried Kubuntu, which works a lot better but
- fails at step 5 of 6 of Installer - can't seem to get the hda partition
- info up. I notice it's laggy in Ubuntu too, but eventually gets past it
- to install - not like Kubuntu.
+ Panel load of acpi applet (clips off soundevent playing the boot theme)
+ is broken in Ed+Ubuntu on this laptop, with all available upgrades in
+ place (386), disabling Gnome controls once upset (batt charging mode).
+
+ So I tried Kubuntu, but this fails at step 5 of 6 in the Installer
+ [bugfile to come..] - it can't seem to get the hda partition info up at
+ all. This phase is slow in Ubuntu, but does partition correctly and
+ finish installing - not like Kubuntu.
+
+ Sorry Colin. Will post full info once I get access to that system again.
