Hi Mitch,

Yes the bug you mentioned is similar, however does not appear to be the
same. I've done a lot of testing to find the best solution for me.

Part of the problem finding a solution was that this model of computer
electronically switches the audio output between either the Internal
Speaker or the Headphone/Lineout. This is not a mechanical switch, hence
incorrect drivers seem to prevent the electronic switching of the
internal speaker off even though I have something plugged into the
Lineout/Headphone.

I did try the backports but they did not work and removed them for this
testing.

I found that the following lines in /etc/pulse/default.pa caused distorted
audio. I tried these lines once after trying the model=hp line. So I restored
them to their defaults.
load-module module-udev-detect ignore_dB=1
load-module module-alsa-sink control=PCM

"options snd-hda-intel model=acer" didn't work. But I decided to check
what other models I could use in the ALC260 range. I dumped a bunch of
model lines in and commented them in and out one at a time and wrote
notes as I went.

Here is what I found:

# HP
# Works, albiet Internal speaker control must be at 0% volume but NOT muted for
Headphone/Lineout to work.
# Volume control then no longer works as it tries to amp internal speaker
control to 50% when increasing the volume.
#options snd-hda-intel model=hp

# HP 3013 variant
# Works well and will switch audio output correctly. However volume mapping
# has sudden drop off around 20%, anything above makes hardly any difference.
#options snd-hda-intel model=hp-3013

# HP DC7600
# Despite this being the exact model of my PC this does NOT work... at all.
(However the dc7600 comes
# in two versions, desktop and slimline, and since I have the slimline I
presume this only works for the desktop)
#options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dc7600

# Fujitsu S7020
# Doesn't work.
#options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu

# Acer TravelMate
# Internal speaker works. No controls and no sound from headphone and lineout.
#options snd-hda-intel model=acer

# Will laptops (PB V7900)
# Works really well! Volume is no longer mapped to "speaker" and the internal
speaker and
# lineout/headphone now switch properly.
options snd-hda-intel model=will

# Replacer 672V
# Sends a high spike through the sound card which will cause the speakers to
click even if the volume is muted on the
# external amp. Seems to work otherwise but not fully tested.
#options snd-hda-intel model=replacer
