This is still happening as of the latest updates this morning.
The screen x-origin is still offset, and the screen image wraps around, as
before.
Selecting a text console with ctl-alt-F1 etc. results in a blank screen.
When the system is booting (after a selection is made in grub), the screen
gradually gets obscured by a greyish, cloudy image; a graphics boot usually
fails, and selecting recovery mode is difficult but possible due the screen
being obscured - I have to type the mode selection, root password, and command
to start daemons blindly.

I have attached apt-show-versions output, to show the current package
versions on the system.
