Arky, correct me if I'm wrong. This report is about update-notifier launching
update-manager when a user logs in and there it offers no option disable it.
However the key "/apps/update-notifier/auto_launch" allows one to disable the
autolaunch of update-manager and display a notification instead, but there's
not possibility to change it from the software-properties dialog. I'm
reaffecting this report to software-properties.
bug 522452 is about a script checking for a release upgrade when
displaying the motd.
