Ubuntu kernel 2.6.33 rc8 is already released, so I guess we will soon see a stable 2.6.33.
You can install the latest kernel via .deb files from the Ubuntu PPA: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ I'm currently writing from 2.6.33 rc7. It lacks Radeon support in my setup, so Firefox lags when scrolling.
