This is a race in Xlib. glibc detected a heap corruption from the exit()
function which was called because of an X11 I/O error.

Usually, this means the Xlib state has gotten corrupted due to lack of
locking. This is a known problem in VLC < 1.1. Please retry with VLC
1.1.
