Hm, OK. Seems I've sent you on a bit of a wild goose chase, sorry. On closer inspection the spca5xx driver seems to be depreciated. As in the error log it fails to build with recent kernels because config.h was removed. Because of that, it has been removed from Ubuntu kernels and replaced by gspca which is a replacement for the spca5xx driver.
The gspca driver seems to support your webcam though. If you can please perform the following steps after a reboot: lsmod | grep gspca Do you see gspca in the output? If so, the driver is detecting your webcam and should be working properly. You can use the tool v4l-info (in package: v4l-conf) to dump information about the video devices on your system, including the device node (which is usually /dev/video or /dev/video0). You'll need to configure the app you are using to use that device. If you do not see gspca in the output: sudo modprobe gspca And please attach the output of dmesg. -- Web cam dosn't work https://launchpad.net/bugs/88801 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
