Thank you for the response. At this point, it is difficult to tell whether the bug you are experiencing is in fact related to alsa, or if it is a problem with mplayer. Could you please run 'apport-collect -p mplayer 525071' in the Terminal? This will attach info about your installed version of mplayer to this report, which will allow us to more easily determine if this is an alsa or a mplayer problem.
