I've tested this on my laptop with a VM that passes the ACPI status of
the Host to the Guest. Even though it's not perfect, I did see a
difference. When I was working with only the adapter attached, it acted
as if it was a PC, not a laptop. That's not a bug or anything, just the
way the ACPI is send to the guest. But, inserting the battery didn't
change a thing, after rebooting the VM (not a virtual power cycle which
would involve the VM to be shut down and started again), the battery was
detected and shown properly. I let the battery charge to 100%, removed
the adapter, let it sit for a while then put it back in to charge it.
When it was 100% again, my Host didn't show the icon anymore, but the VM
did. Removing the battery again changed the icon on the Host (the laptop
directly) and correctly showed that the battery was removed and running
on adapter only. The VM kept showing the battery icon. In fact, even
though it was fully charged and the icon was like that, it changed to
the charging battery icon. It could have been the VM ACPI thing again,
so I will check later with the live CD booted directly on the laptop.

Also, the link I posted before shows a newer version, 0.9.90. The
version in Lucid is 0.8.4.2. It was released last month.
