For me this was a settings issue, not a bug with gsynaptics. I discovered that clicking worked fine when logged in as guest, so I renamed my local .gconf folder (to .gconf_old) and mouse activity returned to normal. I wasn't able to locate the exact key that caused the issue. I don't know if this will help Paradigm or if it's the same issue.
