Okay. Don't know what the "default" is about. I can play sound on my
computer, like youtube videos with sound. I can record sound through my
USB microphone with the audacity sound editor. The problem is that some
programs either won't work at all with sound or require that you close
ALL other programs before they will work with sound. I have a friend
with Ubuntu who has these same problems, who uses a different computer
to me.

I eventually found the "Fusion.ini" file hidden in my "Home" folder and
learnt that you have to press ctrl and h to see some folders, also had
to manually select "gedit" so I could open this file. A little
bamboozled, but I'm still learning Linux and it's still not as familiar
to me, who's used Windows for years.

I don't know where to type the words "ALSA" and "pulse" in the
"Fusion.ini" file. In fact, Kega Fusion works fine if all other
programs are closed before I run it. In the Kega Fusion "Options" menu,
if you tick "Sleep While Waiting" the program works fine AND it runs
faster - the sound works as long as no other programs are running.
Below I have copied the sound section of that .ini file (I've NOT made
any edits to the .ini file and the "SoundDisabled=1" is irrelevant, as
you can enable the sound in Kega Fusion itself AFTER you close ALL other
programs first - yes I've tried changing "SoundDisabled=1" to zero, but
it makes no difference - you still have to close ALL other programs
first):
