Some similar observations and some new...

During my first attempt I noticed postgresql 8.3 and 8.4, too. I removed 
both at an earlier time and only reinstalled 8.4 within the sequenced 
installation I described earlier.

I've noted a different was to log in - my localhost didn't resolve using 
8080. But if you type in just "http://ip_of_server/openbravo";, without 
8080, it would go to a redirect screen and then to log on screen.
