A work around to this i found that is faster than what i posted before is as 
follows: (the ones prefixed with *'s are manditory for this to work, the others 
just provide helpful informaion)
when at the grub prompt  type [root] no brackets  It comes back saying you are 
currently rooted in (loop0)
type *[search -s -f -n /ubuntu/install/boot/vmlinuz] (again no brackets)
type [root] again, It should come back saying something like HD0,1 or whatever 
partition your windows is.
type *[configfile /ubuntu/install/boot/grub/grub.cfg] this then starts the 
proper installation
