Ok, progress. I'm now testing Lucid Lynx (Beta 1, I believe), and the chipset is identified out-of-the-box. That's a big step, but the firmware is a separate issue, as it is incomplete out-of-the-box and the package b43-fwcutter must be installed to download the firmware.
To resolve this bug, there still needs to be some kind of visual mechanism to engage the end user in the process of downloading the firmware, if so desisred, so that the apt-get install method isn't (manually) required out-of-the-box. I need to check to see if there's another bug covering that remaining functionality. If so, I can consider this bug closed. -- Unable to get Linksys WPC54G wireless card to work out-of-the-box https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
