This is more complicated than I thought.

Updating the pot file during build doesn't help - since it's not shipped
in any of the binary packages.  The pot file in the source tarball is
out of date.

The only debian/rules command run when making a source tarball is
"debian/rules clean" - but at this point, there's probably no
po/Makefile, so:

make: Entering directory `/home/scott/work/lucid/mountall/po'
make: *** No rule to make target `update-po'. Stop.
make: Leaving directory `/home/scott/work/lucid/mountall/po'

So I'm stuck - how are you supposed to update the pot file in the
tarball?
