Thank you for your diligence in seeking to resolve my issue. I fear I was in error in reporting this as a bug--it was, in fact, a problem resulting from changes in the network at my location. I would not have reported the bug at all, had the person responsible for the changes been forthcoming with what had been done; a bit of reverse engineering eventually led me to the solution. I resolved the conflict, so now my Pidgin is fully functional as before.
