Thank you for your diligence in seeking to resolve my issue. I fear I
was in error in reporting this as a bug--it was, in fact, a problem
resulting from changes in the network at my location. I would not have
reported the bug at all, had the person responsible for the changes been
forthcoming with what had been done; a bit of reverse engineering
eventually led me to the solution. I resolved the conflict, so now my
Pidgin is fully functional as before.

In joy,

Status in “pidgin” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: pidgin

It had connected normally for months. Abruptly, as of Feb 3rd or 4th, no
more connection was possible. It disconnected from IRC in the evening,
perhaps around 9 or 10 at night and has not come back up since. I
attempted deleting all my accounts and re-adding them as previously set
up, but no connection seems possible.
