After re-reading the patch man pages, I see that I was omitting the crucial "<".
Thus, from /usr/share/mypaint/ I did the following, after creating a file with the necessary .patch filename. sudo patch < 001-Check-for-and-handle-infinite-pressure.patch And, I get the following errors: Hunk #1 FAILED at 8. Hunk #2 FAILED at 127. 2 of of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file tiledrawwidget.py.rej Thoughts? Suggestions?
