There is a now a workaround in #566762, so I installed plymouth-theme- ubuntu-logo, it has no affect (unsurprisingly).
To summarize, on my T42: 1. boot with 'plymouth:splash=ubuntu-text' as the non-last kernel arg 2. text theme is used 3. occasionally have a flash of text before gdm comes up 4. on shutdown, the text theme is used, but initscript output is usually displayed, starting on the same line as the 4 pulsing dots from the theme. On at least one occasion there was no initscript output -- could not write byte broken pipe https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521298 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
