I think the original reporter, Tillanz and myself are both fairly
confident that the root cause is defective USB hardware in some way. The
problem is really that the defective hardware makes the console
unusable.

At least in my case removing the defective hardware is not really an
option since it's a laptop with internal usb hardware.

Uncommenting 'kernel.printk = 4 4 1 7' in /etc/sysctl.conf doesn't seem
to have any effect on silencing the messages, but a bit more googling on
my part might come up with another way of silencing them I guess.

The same problem is still there with the lucid RC btw. I'm also finding
that having lots of messages printed to the console also seems to affect
suspending the machine, but not consistently.
