I was about to file this bug when I noticed this. I was install edgy Xubuntu on an old desktop system. Using the Alternative install disc installation went fine, card detected. After booting into the new install I noticed the modules weren't loaded and wasn't even on the system. I ended up booting into the system with a regular livecd mounting the installed fs with
sudo mount /dev/hda1 /tmp then chrooting into it cd /tmp; chroot /tmp then running apt-get and installing the linux-restricted-modules package for my kernel its too bad this is probably a simple problem to fix but a real minor inconvenience to anyone with an atheros card. -- linux-restricted-modules not installed on edgy-beta-alternative after detecting madwifi card https://launchpad.net/bugs/63006 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
