Hi,
I am glad to be of service. IRQPOLL seems to be the only command
resolving the problem. Obviously this is an IRQ problem. I had the same
issue with Ubuntu 6.06 on another machine with integrated LAN and AUDIO.
PCI=USEIRQMASK did the trick there. It was an ASRock Intel MB with the
inter8x0 driver.
I faced some printing problems:

I tried installing cups 1.2.8 from source on Ubuntu 6.06, but some
printing problems occured. Is it possible that someone release a deb package
of precompiled cups 1.2.8 as an update to Dapper (I will be much obliged if
someone at least post the correct .configure options)? This will help really
a lot of people. The gs-esp 8.15.2 is broken also and I had to downgrade to
7.07.
With kind regards,
Todor Ivanov

Subject: [Bug 65836] Re: Problem with Toshiba L100 and RTL8139
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for
you? Thanks in advance.
