I have been able to reliably recreate the issue following these steps.
. Select Turn off Bluetooth.
. Select Turn on Bluetooth
. Device is missing
. in terminal killall bluetooth-applet
. Icon disappears
. in terminal (or run dialogue) run bluetooth-applet
. Icon reappears with devices listed
My device is an SX-905 headset.
