There are two problems:
1. The PDF generated by gedit (or perhaps gedit's PDF passed through the
pdftopdf filter of CUPS) is broken, so that foomatic-rip cannot
determine the number of pages via Ghostscript).
2. foomatic-rip does neither error out nor render anyway if it is not
able to determine the number of pages of the document. Adding foomatic-
filters task.
I am not able to reproduce the problem. Can you attach the text files
here with which the problem occurs for you? Can you also print into a
file and save it in PDF format and then attch this file? Thanks.
