uname -a still still says I'm still on Linux ubuntu 2.6.20-9-generic #2 SMP Mon Feb 26 03:01:44 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux, though apt said it had installed a different version of the kernel.
I'm feeling a little bamboozled here. An ls -l in / says the following for vmlinuz: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2007-03-22 09:07 vmlinuz -> boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-12-386 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2007-03-22 08:53 vmlinuz.old -> boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-12-generic So the kernel definitely thinks it's on 2.6.20-12. How downright peculiar. The apt command I executed to install the new kernel was apt-get install linux-686, so I don't understand why vmlinuz points towards 386. I'm going to halt my rapid experimentation here and await a little guidance. -- no wireless on Dell M1710 laptop https://launchpad.net/bugs/92973 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
