Hi, Launchpad did not send me a notification of your comment, but in the
meantime I did some tests myself which suggest that the problem is
related to profile.
TEST 1. - REINSTALL FIREFOX PACKAGE
1. Synaptic Package Manager -> select 'firefox' -> Remove Completely -> Apply
2. Synaptic Package Manager -> select 'firefox' -> Mark for Installation ->
Apply
RESULT: problem continues
TEST 1. - REINSTALL FIREFOX PACKAGE AND MANUALLY REMOVE ALL TRACES
1. Synaptic Package Manager -> select 'firefox' -> Remove Completely -> Apply
2. Manually remove traces
sudo rm -rf /etc/firefox-3.0
sudo rm -rf ~/.mozilla
3. Synaptic Package Manager -> select 'firefox' -> Mark for Installation ->
Apply
4. Run firefox and make sure not to import anything on first run.
RESULT: firefox works!
I will now try and see if I can find out what it was in my profile that
caused the problem.
