Quoting the attached DpkgTerminalLog.txt:

Unclear what could have caused this. My hunch is that this would be
more likely to be a dpkg / aptitude / synaptic problem than an Emacs
problem. Can you please reply back with the output of ls -l
/var/lib/dpkg/info/emacs*
Was there a disk full condition at any point when you tried to install
Emacs?
